The rooms are located in the north and south wings and divided into three units, one on each floor of the facility. Each unit has its own central nursing station, lounge, and dining area.

The entrance is on the main or ground floor. On the lower floor are the large dining room, a craft and recreation room, a chapel, a beauty salon and barber shop, and a rehabilitation-treatment room. A central bank of elevators and a main stairwell in the centre of the building connect the three units.

Hardisty is edged by beautiful grounds.Care is comprehensive and includes a unit manager who coordinates care on each nursing unit, plus registered nurses, registered psychiatric nurses, and licensed practical nurses to help residents with medical treatments, therapy, or medications. Personal care attendants help residents with personal care needs, including bathing, dressing and eating.

Hardisty goes beyond medical care to encompass the needs of each individual and family. A dietician visits each incoming residents to determine a nutritional diet. Rehabilitation and Recreational therapists help enhance physical mobility, social contacts and cognitive skills.

An end-of-life care committee assists both residents and their families, providing compassion, resources and coping skills.

Hardisy nursing home50 Years of Care

Hardisty has a long tradition of care. In 1958, the original Hardisty Nursing Home opened in a converted 12-suite apartment building on 101st Avenue in Edmonton. In 1960, the home expanded into an adjacent 12-suite apartment block, creating a 150-bed care facility.
However, by 1965, concerns over the safety of a nursing home within a wood frame building led to construction of a new, safer building a few blocks from the original nursing home. This two-storey, 100-bed nursing home opened in 1967. The current care center dates its history from the opening of this new building.

Expansions and updates in 1967 and 1970 and then annually from 1996 to 1999 added additional space and facilities to Hardisty.

From 1969 until 2008, Hardisty was owned by Hubert Hoffman. Effective March 01, 2008, Hardisty Care Centre joined Park Place Seniors Living.

Current key staff at Hardisty Care Centre are Administrator Marek Lupicki, Director of Care Cindy Morris, RN, and Recreation/Rehab Manager Lien Nguyen.
