Message from Park Place Seniors Living President, Al Jina
April 28, 2020 | By Park Place Seniors Living |
Keeping our residents safe and well cared during this Pandemic requires our front line staff to come to work and be safe while providing care and service. In order for them to do so means for them to have the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), such as masks, gowns, and gloves.
Therefore securing a supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) for Park Place Senior Living sites is of utmost importance in the efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. We have a director dedicated to procurement and are constantly seeking solutions for long term sustainability of supply.
Park Place Seniors Living is proud to be part of the Canadian Alliance to Protect and Equip Seniors Living (CAPES). This initiative was a response from senior living organizations across the country to collaborate on securing sufficient quantities of PPE for frontline healthcare workers. Within 12 hours of launching the initiative, more than 25 operators responded.
These organizations overfunded their own orders by 35% to source reserve PPE supplies, amounting to millions of dollars of PPE to be made available to smaller operators. The equipment, including level 1 and 2 masks, isolation gowns, and gloves, will be distributed across multiple channels with the reserve supplying those small operators most in need.
“By coming together, the senior living sector is able to lend support to all providers of seniors care and housing. Through collaboration and innovation, we will be able to best support seniors in care throughout Canada” said Al Jina, President of Park Place Seniors Living.
