Crafting Comfort and Community: A Heartfelt Donation by Burnaby’s 13th Venturers Company

At Cascade Gardens Seniors Community in Burnaby, we recently had the pleasure of receiving a thoughtful and meaningful donation from the 13th Burnaby Venturers Company. Venturer Scouts is for youth age 15-17 (through Scouts Canada) to explore their potential and ambition in an inclusive environment, forging friendships with others who share their passion to “Climb Higher”. Community support is a component of the Venturers program. Venturers Aadam Patni, Kian Sonawala, and Mattin Alizada, along with their dedicated team, embarked on a woodwork project to create three beautiful benches for our residents at Cascade Gardens.
The project was initiated as part of the prestigious Kings Ventures Award, and these young individuals truly exemplified the spirit of giving back to the community. The process began with consideration of the seniors’ needs and outdoor aesthetics. The Venturers meticulously planned the project, selecting a bench design and color schemes that would integrate with the tranquil outdoor spaces at Cascade Gardens.
To fund their endeavor, the Venturers showcased admirable creativity. They started by selling donuts generously donated by Tim Hortons, and they approached Home Depot at the United Blvd Coquitlam location for additional support. A generous donation from Home Depot that played a crucial role in making this project a reality.
The journey continued with the careful selection of materials and the hands-on process of crafting the benches. The Venturers, guided by experienced Scouters, demonstrated exceptional teamwork and dedication. Through this process, they not only created impressive benches but also gained invaluable skills in costing, fundraising, and woodworking techniques.
The Venturers, joined by other enthusiastic members, learned new skills that will undoubtedly serve them well in future woodwork projects. This shared experience was not just about creating tangible items; it was about fostering a sense of community, learning, and shared accomplishment.
When the benches were delivered to Cascade Gardens, the joy on the faces of our residents spoke volumes.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Cascade Gardens for supporting this endeavor and accepting the donation with open hearts. A special acknowledgment is also due to Home Depot for their support. Their contribution played a vital role in making this project possible. As the benches find their place in Cascade Gardens, we are certain that the residents will cherish and enjoy these beautiful creations as much as the Venturers enjoyed crafting them. This act of kindness truly embodies the spirit of community, and we are grateful to have such thoughtful individuals making a positive impact on the lives of our seniors.
