Health Achievements at Cartier House: Personalized Care and Continuous Improvement
November 14, 2024 | By Park Place Seniors Living |
Located in Coquitlam, BC, and owned by Park Place Seniors Living, Cartier House Seniors Community offers a warm, home-like environment with 24/7 dedicated care. Our small, cozy residence is committed to meeting the unique needs of each resident, providing a safe space where seniors can enjoy life to the fullest.
Zero UTI Rate and Infection Control
Over the past year, Cartier House achieved a consistent zero Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) rate, thanks to focused prevention practices including hydration support and regular hygiene checks. Our team’s quick response to challenges like the COVID-19 and influenza outbreaks also helped ensure residents’ safety with enhanced protocols and vigilant monitoring.
The Willow Wing continued to maintain a zero UTI rate for the entire past 12 months, despite facing the challenges of a COVID-19 Exposure Management (EM) in early January-February, an Influenza Outbreak in September, and another COVID-19 EM in October. This ongoing success is a testament to the exceptional infection control measures in place.
Dogwood Wing: Wound Care Successes
In Dogwood Wing, we successfully resolved three complex pressure wounds—two that were present before admission and one acquired later. Two healed without a Wound Care Nurse (WCN) referral, while one involved WCN guidance. Each case reflects our proactive, resourceful approach to recovery.
Rose Wing: Zero UTI in Q3 2023
The Rose Wing proudly recorded zero UTIs in the third quarter of 2023, an accomplishment due to early recognition and effective infection control strategies, creating a safer environment for residents.
Looking Ahead
At Cartier House, we’re proud of these achievements and look forward to continued growth in senior care excellence. By fostering a culture of compassion, safety, and innovation, we strive to make a lasting positive impact on each resident’s life.
