Post-Pandemic Legislative Initiatives in Long-Term Care

The COVID-19 pandemic caused significant disruption in long-term care facilities, leading to visitation restrictions, infection control measures, and public health mandates. In response, Canadian governments have introduced several legislative initiatives to improve the protection of seniors in long-term care. In this presentation, Al Jina, Owner of Park Place Seniors Living and member of the ACCA legislation committee, reviews key legislative initiatives, including Alberta’s Continuing Care Act, Ontario’s Fixing Long-Term Care Act, and federal developments like Bill C-295 and the ongoing consultation for a Safe Long-Term Care Act. These efforts aim to strengthen the long-term care sector and better protect residents.
